Problem

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread worldwide. COVID-19 is impacting the readiness of our military. It creates additional risks for our country’s military personnel. The military is also being tapped to provide support to help our community in response to the pandemic, yet social distancing and safety regulations prevent the traditional close proximity of military personnel to ensure their safety. There is an urgent need by the US Military for rapid, accurate wearable diagnostics to identify and isolate pre-symptomatic COVID-19 cases and track/prevent the spread of the virus.

To address this problem, PURVIS Systems needs to design a wearable device that must check:

  • Whether or not a person is showing physical signs of COVID-10 (temperature/fever, cough, and/or other physical symptoms that can be measured
  • If a person has developed antibodies resulting from COVID-19
  • Other tests that might identify other normal or abnormal processes taking place in the body that could be a sign of COVID-19 (molecular biomarkers)
